Anxiety & Worry | Let’s Talk About It | Erin Johnston
Do you deal with anxiety or worry in your life? All around the bible, God calls you to cast your anxiety and worry onto Him! In a world where it can be so easy to stay stuck in fear, God invites you to share what you deeply care about with Him so that your cares and thoughtfulness don’t turn to anxiety or worry. Anxiety can separate and distract you from what really matters in your life. But with Jesus, you can cling to God, find support in community, and pray so that you may experience his peace and security.
KEY VERSES
2 Corinthians 1:8-10: We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
Job 3:11, 13, 24-26: “Why wasn’t I born dead?Why didn’t I die as I came from the womb?
13 Had I died at birth, I would now be at peace.I would be asleep and at rest.
24 I cannot eat for sighing;my groans pour out like water. 25 What I always feared has happened to me.What I dreaded has come true. 26 I have no peace, no quietness.I have no rest; only trouble comes.”Job 1:8: Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.”
2 Corinthians 1:9-10: In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:6-7: Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. 7 We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.
2 Corinthians 1:11: And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.
