True friendship isn’t just about having fun - it’s about walking through life together. Ecclesiastes 4 tells us that two are better than one because they strengthen and support each other. Jesus calls us friends and models the kind of deep, intentional relationships we all long for. Who in your life needs the kind of friendship Jesus offers? Let’s lean into God’s design for true connection.
KEY VERSES
Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 NLT - I observed yet another example of something meaningless under the sun. This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself, “Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?” It is all so meaningless and depressing. Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
John 15:12-17 NLT - This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other.

- One person reads the story out loud to the group.
- Someone else in the group retells the story in their own words as they remember it, and others fill in what’s missing.

- Have 1-2 more people retell the story as if they were telling a neighbor outside their home.
